The Irish Red Cross EFR Course is delivered over a number of weekends, with breaks for consolidation of knowledge and skills between each weekend. The course is delivered in a number of venues, normally twice per year.
Any candidate wishing to apply to enter onto the Irish Red Cross EFR course must have pre requisite courses completed before entry onto the course can be granted. They are:
- Cardiac First Responder Community – CFR Advanced must be completed as a co-requisite
- Intermediate First Aid
- Safer Patient Moving
- Child Protection Awareness Training
A Garda Vetting form must also be completed and returned to the applicant.
It is advisable that candidates are familiar with all of the equipment on an Irish Red Cross ambulance beforehand. A good working knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures will assist also.
